New extranet capability on horizon
Lancaster Labs is developing a secure extranet application to serve our pharmaceutical clients and is targeting the release for early in 2007. This browser-based utility will allow clients to view sample information, reports, and test data online as soon as results have been authorized.

According to Gordon Beitzel, manager of computer applications development for Lancaster Labs, the new capability is being developed internally by a team of software developers. “The most important design consideration in the project,” he says, “is the security of the site and of our client’s data. With this focus, we’ll come up with a solid blueprint and work cooperatively with a handful of clients to test the design before site launch.”

He is excited by the scope of information and features that will be available through the site, noting one made possible by the new CD data package process. “Now that we are capturing our data package components electronically, clients will be able to access the scanned copies of actual notebook pages associated with authorized tests.”
