Ownership change for Lancaster Laboratories
On August 5, 2005, Fisher Scientific International Inc. (www.fisherscientific.com) purchased Lancaster Laboratories from its previous owner, private equity investment firm Goldner Hawn Johnson & Morrison.

With this change, Lancaster Labs joins a publicly held company that's been a world leader in serving science for more than 100 years. Clients may already be doing business with the FORTUNE 500 company in other capacities. Fisher has a broad range of outsourcing services for the pharmaceutical industry, including contract manufacturing and pharmaceutical packaging for clinical trials. Additionally, the company is a leading provider of scientific instruments and laboratory equipment to researchers and clinicians around the world. Most importantly, Fisher understands the lab business and shares Lancaster Labs' culture of quality and service excellence.

According to Dr. Wilson Hershey, Lancaster Labs' president, the transition to new ownership has been totally transparent for clients. The company operates as Lancaster Laboratories Inc. as before, and the quality, technical leadership, and services remain the same.

Going forward, Lancaster Labs will continue to provide analytical services in pharmaceutical and environmental sciences. On the pharmaceutical side, Fisher has expanded several of its existing clinical-services facilities and completed a number of acquisitions, including McKesson BioServices (renamed Fisher BioServices) to enhance outsourcing services for pharmaceutical and biotechnology customers. On the environmental side, Fisher plans to grow environmental testing capabilities at the Lancaster facility, building on Lancaster Labs' established reputation in the area.

"Fisher's goal is to build the world's greatest resource for products and services for the scientist and clinician, and our laboratory services extend Fisher's suite of outsourced pharmaceutical and environmental testing services," says Hershey. "We're delighted with our new owners and pleased to be part of that future."
